Michael Barber's long-awaited unofficial biography of Anthony Powell, Anthony Powell: A Life arrived from the publishers yesterday. Although I'd seen a review copy, I have to admit the final published version does look good -- and IMO it is an excellent read.
So far I am aware of just 2 reviews: Ian Sproat in the Scotsman on Sunday and Max Hastings in the Daily Telegraph.
Anthony Powell: A Life is published in UK by Duckworth and may be ordered from

The US edition is due for publication on 2 September and may be pre-ordered from
Amazon.com.
